The National Service Scheme (NSS), a Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India, provides opportunities for student youth in schools (11th & 12th class) and higher education institutions to engage in community service, fostering personality development and character building through “Education through Service”.

History: The NSS was launched in 1969 with the goal of developing the personality and character of students through voluntary community service

Aims and Objectives: The NSS aims to develop the personality and character of students through voluntary community service, promoting national integration, social harmony, and leadership qualities.

Structure: NSS is divided into regular activities (weekly meetings, community service, and social service projects) and special camping programs (7-day community service activities).

Certificates: Upon completion of the program, students are awarded certificates recognizing their participation and service.
